Updated Information on Flood Relief and the Resilience Fund

The Whatcom Community Foundation is making grants from the Resilience Fund to local organizations who are working with Whatcom Strong to provide flood relief countywide to people based on individual needs.

Every dollar raised here stays here and 100% of all donations made to the Resilience Fund are being granted to local organizations in Whatcom County to provide resources for our community members who have been affected by the recent floods.

If you’ve been affected by the flood and need assistance:

Please contact Whatcom Strong to submit a request for help: https://www.whatcomstrong.com, 564.209.8702; or Whatcom County Flood Response, https://www.whatcomcounty.us/3827/Flood-Response-Information, 360.788.5303

Where Resilience Fund dollars are going:

As of December 3, 2021, Whatcom Community Foundation has made 22 grants totaling $816,000 to 15 organizations working on the ground in the communities impacted by flood. These funds are making it possible for these organizations to distribute:

  • emergency relief checks
  • plastic tubs for people to gather and store their salvageable belongings
  • warm meals and groceries
  • clothing, shoes, showers, toiletries and laundry
  • bleach, buckets, rags and cleaning supplies
  • work gloves, shovels, tools, fans and sump pumps
  • blankets, heaters and hotel stays
  • dump fees
  • school supplies, minor home repairs and transportation

What else the Whatcom Community Foundation is doing in response to the floods:

In addition to helping raise and distribute funds for flood relief, our team is advocating
for elected officials to take swift action to develop a plan for temporary housing and/or hotel vouchers.
