Where Resilience Fund dollars are going:
As of December 3, 2021, Whatcom Community Foundation has made 22 grants totaling $816,000 to 15 organizations working on the ground in the communities impacted by flood. These funds are making it possible for these organizations to distribute:
- emergency relief checks
- plastic tubs for people to gather and store their salvageable belongings
- warm meals and groceries
- clothing, shoes, showers, toiletries and laundry
- bleach, buckets, rags and cleaning supplies
- work gloves, shovels, tools, fans and sump pumps
- blankets, heaters and hotel stays
- dump fees
- school supplies, minor home repairs and transportation
What else the Whatcom Community Foundation is doing in response to the floods:
In addition to helping raise and distribute funds for flood relief, our team is advocating
for elected officials to take swift action to develop a plan for temporary housing and/or hotel vouchers.
