Join the Youth Philanthropy Project!
Are you ready to make a real difference in your community? The Youth Philanthropy Project invites high school students from across Whatcom County to step into the role of community changemaker. As part of this leadership program, you’ll learn how philanthropy works from the inside—exploring local issues, reviewing grant proposals, and deciding how to invest up to $5,000 in projects that help Whatcom County youth thrive.
This year, the Youth Philanthropy Committee is focusing on building environments where young people can thrive—using the Icelandic Prevention Model (IPM) as a guide. That means funding projects that help strengthen connections, create meaningful activities, and support youth wellness. You’ll work with other students, mentors, and community leaders to understand what really helps young people succeed and shape solutions that have lasting impact.
Whether you care about mental health, creative expression, recreation, or building community, this is your chance to lead change—and learn skills that will serve you for life. Join us to use your voice, your ideas, and your passion to make Whatcom County a place where every young person can belong and thrive.
